Weaving comfort for Kya Sands

JOBURG - A Fourways-based business has launched an innovative campaign to aid the greater Fourways community.

Heriz Gallery, located at The Straight Shopping Centre in Pineslopes, has launched the #HerizHero campaign to help Kya Sands residents who were affected by a devastating fire last year.

The store is encouraging the community to donate used carpets, which Heriz Gallery will clean and repair before distributing to the victims of the Kya Sands fire.

Owner of Heriz Gallery, Javad Shokoubhin, explained that a carpet is the archetypal experience of comfort. “No matter how humble your home, every person deserves to have some comfort, none more so than people who have lost everything,” he said. Shokoubhin and his partner, Majid Saffari, have woven the idea of giving back to the community into their everyday business philosophy.

“Community involvement is part of our family culture and business ethos, which is why mutual patronage is part of how we work,” Shokoubhin said. “We also embrace our responsibility as a local business to give back to our community and to engage with our customers to join us in making a difference where it is needed most.”

In addition to their carpet collecting initiative, Heriz Gallery has also decided to donate R500 for every R2 500 purchased to the #HerizHero fund.
