Late Feather’s pups get new homes

FOURWAYS- After Fourways Review reported on Feather’s brave story from the PET Empowerment in Townships project, Laura Whittaker from the organisation announced that all of the pups have been adopted.

The organisation received a call from one of their volunteers in a township, informing them of a female dog who had been hit by a car and was badly injured.

“Feather, as she is known, could not stand at the time. She had seven babies to feed. We went through to Orange Farm township in the middle of the night to rescue her and her pups,” said Whittaker.

“Feather was in extreme pain, but our vet managed to stabilise her for the night. Even though Feather was in such pain, she still wanted her babies with her.” Unfortunately Feather was paralised and had to be put to sleep.

Working tirelessly in Johannesburg townships for the last several years, the organisation provides healthcare and education to improve the lives of dogs and cats in less-privileged communities.

“I would like to thank everyone who helped network the pups and to the families who adopted them. We know that Feather will be able to rest in peace knowing her beloved children are in the best hands,” added Whittaker.
