JOHANNESBURG - There’s a lot to see and do in and around Joburg this weekend.

Don’t let load shedding get to you, instead go out and enjoy what the city has to offer.

The Orbit

Multi-talented musician Tu Nokwe will perform at the Orbit in Braamfontein on 17 and 18 January.

POPArt

The P.O.P Art Theatre in Maboneng’s stand-up comedy night returns on 18 January with appearances by David Kibuuka, Mojak Lehoko, Glen Biderman and Eric Jansen, with Chris Forrest as the host.

Wanderer’s Stadium

The Proteas will take on the West Indies in a One Day International cricket match at the Wanderers Stadium on 18 January from 10am.

Chinatown

If cooking is your thing then you won’t want to miss a walk through Cyrildene’s colourful Derrick Avenue, known as Joburg’s New Chinatown with a chef and culinary tour guide on 17 January.

Observatory

Joburg Heritage invites you to take a walk with them to Johannesburg historic observatory on 17 January.

Poolside in Maboneng

For all those still suffering from holiday-hangover, this may be an opportunity to enjoy the sun at the poolside with some good music and a drink. Poolside in Maboneng will host a few DJs for your enjoyment on 17 January.

Exhibitions

For a bit of cultured fun, visit Nirox Projects in Maboneng for the opening of Invisible Cities by Lorenzo Nassimbeni, and Wits Art Museum for Willliam Kentridge’s Tapestries where 20 of the artists’ tapestries are on display.
