Duty calls for Diepsloot police

DIEPSLOOT - Operation Duty Calls, an initiative by the Diepsloot police, unearthed numerous drug users and unlicensed liquor outlets in Diepsloot.

The operation started on the morning of 4 December. According to Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela, the operation was sustained right up until late afternoon on 5 December. Mavimbela said during the operation unlicensed liquor traders, dagga and other drug users and illegal immigrants were arrested. The police arrested 50 suspects during the operation and unlicensed firearms, dagga, illegal drugs, counterfeit DVDs and liquor were seized.

The purpose of Operation Duty Calls was also to enhance police visibility during the festive season. Mavimbela said other intelligence-driven raids will be unleashed on wanted suspects and crime syndicates during the festive season.

The suspects who were arrested during the operation are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
