School hijacking vehicle recovered in Chartwell

CHARTWELL - A white Subaru, which was used as the getaway vehicle in an attempted hijacking at Crawford Preparatory Lonehill, has been recovered by Douglasdale police in Chartwell.

According to Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police, two suspects who were in the vehicle when police gave chase fled the scene on foot. Two firearms were recovered from the white Subaru, a pistol and a machine gun.

The attempted hijacking took place on 26 November. Three suspects tried to hijack a black Porsche SUV outside the school, and when they failed to do so they fled up Main Road towards Kyalami.
