Cops: Human bones found in Waterfall

WATERFALL - A Midrand police officer found what police say are human bones on a vacant piece of land in Waterfall on 24 November.

A warrant officer who was patrolling the area found the bones on the bank of the Jukskei River just off the R55.

Sandton police spokesperson, Captain Kym Cloete confirmed that human bones were found and a full on investigation was underway.

“The bones have been retrieved and taken for a forensic investigation at this current time,” said Cloete.

Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe said although no flesh remained on the bones, it appears they had been burnt. Deppe said she was alarmed by this news and believed an investigation would outline the specific details surrounding the discovery.

She went on to say alarm bells should ring for police officials, the municipality and residents of the area after this sort of discovery.

“We need to all be vigilant and aware of the happenings in our area,” concluded Deppe.
