UPDATE: Armed robbery in Beverley

BEVERLEY - According to eye-witness reports, there was a robbery at Leaping Frog Shopping Centre at 7:40 am on 18 November.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale Police confirmed that the robbery did take place at 7:40 am outside Brandon’s Pools in Leaping Frog Centre.

He said the victim had been sitting in his car when he was approached by four suspects holding shotguns.

The suspects robbed the victim of items to the value of R200 000 and fled the scene in a silver Volvo.

According to Muthan, the police ran the registration number on the getaway vehicle’s number plates and the found that the registration did not exist.

This means that the suspects have fake number plates.

Muthan said residents should be on the lookout and should call 10111 if they have any information.

While police could not confirm the robbery, an eye-witness said that the suspects were armed and fled the scene in a silver Volvo with the registration number “TGB054 GP”.

A Douglasdale police officer said four armed suspect robbed a man of his belongings outside one of the shops at the centre. The officer said the suspects were holding shotguns.

The officer urged the community to look out for the vehicle.

The officer said RSS Security responded to the incident.

Twitter is abuzz with people circulating the information of the car that was allegedly involved in the robbery. @One_TouchSA tweeted, “Armed robbery 30 minutes ago Leaping Frog shopping center #BOLO Suspects armed, driving Volvo TGN054GP. Colour silver if seen 10111.”

Residents should be on the lookout for this vehicle.
