Nursery school gets involved in international affairs

BROADACRES - For two weeks leading up to their annual Olympics sports day, the pupils of Broadacres Farm Nursery School indulged in international affairs.

Each class learnt about different customs, rituals, languages and dress styles of various countries.

The school’s owner, Nigel Fitton, said each class was responsible for being involved in making and tasting food from their allocated countries.

Lebanon, China, Egypt, Greece, Netherlands, Japan and many more exciting and diverse countries were chosen for the pupils to learn about.

Leading up to Heritage Day, the Olympic event was well anticipated as pupils were required to represent their countries by dressing up and adorning various colourful outfits.

The day began with an international march and pupils waved flags from various countries and paraded around the school yard.

Fitton added the Olympics entailed various physical activities which created a playful competition between each class.

“The favourite races were the infamous egg and spoon race as well as the sack races,” said Fitton.

Fun was had all around and the pupils of the school are looking forward to the next Olympic event.
