Suicide ride up for auction

FOURWAYS - The community may be able to experience a high-speed driving experience known as drifting or a suicide ride at the Kyalami Race Track.

The ride will be auctioned to raise funds for car fanatic Chris Venter at a dinner on 26 September at Scrooge Diner, Brightwater Commons.

Venter was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness 18 months ago which has left him bedridden and blind. He did not want to disclose the nature of his illness.

A friend, fellow travel enthusiast and Scrooge Diner manager Terence Tracey, has now taken up the task to raise funds to provide Venter with the “decent medical care he deserves”.

To raise the funds, Tracey will host an extravagant dinner and auction event at the diner.

The event is fittingly called the Full Circle Charity Dinner and Auction.

“The inspiration behind the name lies in giving back to Chris after what he has given to others,” said Tracey. “What he gave to others will now be given to him, thus completing a full circle of selfless efforts.

“We have a chance to give back to Chris just like his endeavours saw him give generously to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital while he was able-bodied.”

Venter went to extremes to raise money for the ill. A charity scooter race last year from Cape Town to Ireland took him and a group of friends on an adventure where he raised massive sums of money for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.

Details: Tracey 011 886 9988 or info@scrooge.co.za to offer assistance or to reserve a table.
