UPDATE: Another woman assaulted during robbery

LONEHILL - Douglasdale police have confirmed that a woman was assaulted during a house robbery in Lonehill on 26 September.

26 September, 10 pm

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police, said a case of house robbery and assault had been opened at the Douglasdale police station. According to Muthan the woman was assaulted by three male suspects who made off with jewellery and a TV. Muthan said police are investigating a possible link to the house robbery in neighbouring suburb, Magaliessig which turned into a pick axe attack on 23 September.

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene on Lewis Avenue. According to them the woman was assaulted by the suspects and sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

Douglasdale police have yet to comment officially on the incident. However a police officer who was on the scene said the suspects entered the house forcibly through the garage and were wielding firearms. The suspects allegedly took portable electronics from the house.

The incident comes just days after a 51-year-old woman was brutally assaulted with a pickaxe in Magaliessig during a house robbery.
