Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of the incident in Magaliessig.
The woman was allegedly assaulted with a pick axe during a violent house robbery. According to Emer-G-Med, the woman was given analgesia for the pain before being transported to Sunninghill Hospital for treatment.
She was apparently in a stable condition before being transported.
Douglasdale police are yet to officially comment on the incident but a police officer confirmed that they responded to an assault and break-in on Troupant Avenue in Magaliessig. A witness who was at the scene but who did not wish to be named said the suspects assaulted the woman because she would not stop screaming. The witness speculated that the domestic worker was in the house during the robbery and sounded the panic alarm while the robbery was taking place.
