Wimpy donates R1.1 million to Reach For A Dream

FOURWAYS- An official cheque handover was held at Wimpy Fourways Mall on 12 September.

The franchise’s customers helped raise more than a million rand for Reach For A Dream Foundation through the foundation’s Reach For Your Slippers campaign.

“This has meant that many of the ‘dream Ccildren’ will have their dreams made a reality and also helps us to reach our social awareness goals as a corporation,” said Wimpy brand manager Karabo Morudu.

Morudu added Wimpy had been a supporter of the foundation for many years and would continue their relationship with the foundation.

The foundation held their annual Reach For Your Slippers campaign also known as Slipper Day on 1 August. The campaign called on all South Africans to ‘reach for their slippers’ and to wear them to work or school to help children fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Chairman of the foundation Mervyn Serebro thanked all South African’s at the cheque handover for coming out in their numbers and buying stickers to support this initiative and creating awareness.

Serebro added that the foundation hoped to instil courage and faith into the children they helped by merely fulfilling a simple wish of theirs.
