Probus is an organisation originally started by Rotary for retired and semi-retired professional and business men. Rodney Francis, president of the Probus Council of South Africa said Probus was a club for like-minded people to get together for fellowship. At the club’s September meeting, new member and retired attorney, Howard Ross gave the club members an interesting talk about his career as a successful attorney. Ross retired as a senior partner of the Pretoria firm, Hack Stupel and Ross. Ross also discussed various aspects of the Oscar Pistorius trial. He gave the club members a clear understanding of the differences between a criminal case and a civil case.
The Probus Club of the North meets monthly on the second Thursday of each month at the German Country Club in Paulshof for a luncheon meeting and a talk.
Francis said the club was looking for new members and encouraged retired business men from Fourways, Sandton and Randburg to join.
