Benefiting the babies

SUNDOWNER - A magnificent auction benefitted the Lighthouse Baby Shelter in Sundowner.

Locals enjoyed music, good food and fantastic raffle prizes at a no-holds-barred charity event, hosted by Art and Decor Interior Decorators and Expert Carpet Cleaners in aid of the Lighthouse Baby Shelter.

Weeks of fund- and awareness-raising culminated in a successful auction opened by the energetic Glen Allen Pipe Band and Gospel recording artist Mari Michael, and hosted by TV personality Joelene Martin.

A treasure-filled raffle saw lucky winners walk away with prizes totalling R20 000 in value, including a four-night stay at the Pinnacle Point Golf & Beach Resort in Mossel Bay, a week’s accommodation at the Kruger Bateleur Lodge, and a weekend away at the African Guest House in Vanderbijlpark – all sponsored by On Course Golf Promotions. The goodies didn’t stop there, however, with goodie bags for early bird patrons and lucky draw winners.

The hosts thanked DisChem, Hair, Body and Soul, and Charlene Hogan for their donations of gift hampers for the cause. Meal vouchers donated by Maxis, Dros, Kai Thai and Mumbai Grill, as well as soft drinks from Marc Olivier, were also gratefully received. Potter Lesley Hay donated unique ceramic bowls, while luxurious perfumes were the contribution of Caroline Ritchie of Table Charm.

Art and Decor Interior Decorators and Expert Carpet Cleaners also thanked food donors OK Food, Olivedale Superspar, Fruit and Veg, and Game for the success of the evening, and donations made to weekly Burger Buffet fundraisers leading up to the auction.
