DOUGLASDALE - Douglasdale police arrested two suspects on a crime spree in the Fourways and Randburg areas who could be linked to a number of other cases.

According to Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, two suspects aged 32 and 33, driving a blue Toyota Tazz, robbed a female pedestrian in Bloubosrand on the morning of 10 September. She was robbed of two iPhones, a gold wristwatch and R50 in cash.

Muthan said 20 minutes later, the suspects robbed a man of his laptop, iPhone, bank cards and other personal items in the same area. The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, said the suspects alighted from their vehicle and threatened him with a knife.

Muthan said a call was sent out to search for the suspects, and Douglasdale police officers responded.

Officers spotted the vehicle parked at Bellairs Mall with the suspects seated inside. They were arrested and R30 000 worth of stolen items was found inside the vehicle.

Muthan said the suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court, however further investigations have revealed that the suspects may be linked to numerous other ongoing cases within the Honeydew Cluster.
