Healing with horses and song

DIEPSLOOT - Shumbashaba Horses Helping People near Diepsloot is hosting a Music in the Fields fundraiser on 21 September.

Shumbashaba is a community organisation that believes in the healing power of horses. The organisation aids the community of Diepsloot with riding and non-riding programmes.

The riding programmes encompass therapeutic riding for people with disabilities, and integrated riding as sport and recreation programmes. The non-riding programmes focus on the healing power of horses which is enhanced through experiential therapy with the horses, called equine therapy.

Equine healing imparts life skills and healing to vulnerable children, youth and adults from Diepsloot who may have been victims of abuse, violence or other forms of trauma.

The Music in the Fields fundraiser will be held at the organisations’ premises at Shillelagh farm, near Diepsloot. It will feature songs of hope and healing by Vusi Mahlasela, Laurie Levine and Selaelo Selota, to name a few. The event will run from 12 to 4.30pm, and guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and partake of the delicious refreshments that will be on sale. Tickets cost R150 for adults and R50 for under 16s. Children under six enter free.
