Two murdered in Diepsloot

DIEPSLOOT - Police are investigating cases of murder after two men were found dead in Diepsloot on 13 August.

Diepsloot police spokesperson Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela said the bodies were found in Extension 1 and 2 respectively.

“The deceased in Extension 1 had stab wounds on the head, while [the body] in Extension 2 was found with gun shot wounds on the upper body,” said Mavimbela.

He said police had not established the motive for the murders and they are working with the community to ensure that the suspects are arrested as soon as possible.

Mavimbela did not account for the unrest in  the township, as reported by community members on social media platforms on the afternoon of 13 August. On the Fourways Review Facebook page, Diepsloot community member Maryjane Ntsiki said the community was angry at the murders and they were trying to track down the suspects.

While many motorists were concerned that the unrest would affect the traffic on the R511 by Diepsloot, Ntsiki said the R511 was unaffected.

Mavimbela urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline number.
