FOURWAYS - Fourways High School Grade 12 pupil, Timothy Chambers represented South Africa at the Junior World Orienteering Championships.

Orienteering is a sport that requires navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain.

Chambers was introduced to orienteering in Grade 8 when he started at Fourways High School. In grades 8 and 9 he won the junior boys category, and in grades 10, 11 and 12 he won the senior boys category. Chambers joined the Rand Athletic Club Orienteers, and has competed in provincial, national and international events with the club.

Next year Chambers hopes to represent South Africa at the World Orienteering Championships in Norway.
