Angels raise hope

LONEHILL - Out of the ashes of a tragic situation, a group of caring individuals have come together to change the lives of children diagnosed with cancer.

Sharyn O’Neill of Lonehill founded the non-profit organisation, Ependy Angels shortly after her daughter Layla was diagnosed with ependymoma in May last year. Ependymoma is a type of childhood cancer which affects the brain and spinal cord. Ependy Angels is an organisation which assists children who are fighting cancer, and their families.

O’Neill said the organisation was passionate about helping children and although they could not cure cancer, they continue to raise funds and awareness to make the battle more tolerable for the families involved. Early in July Ependy Angels visited the oncology ward at Johannesburg General Hospital to put smiles on the faces of children diagnosed with cancer, and to see where they could assist the parents financially and emotionally.

Ependy Angels asked the public to please support their upcoming events and in turn support children diagnosed with cancer.

The organisation’s next event is a golf day at Randpark Golf Club on 21 July, followed by a Christmas in July rooftop market at Lonehill shopping centre on 26 July.
