Road rage accused speaks out

FOURWAYS - The driver whom the Ramiah family accused of road rage and racism has come forward to tell his side of the story.

The driver, who preferred to remain anonymous, was accused by the Ramiah family of intimidating them by driving alongside their car in rush hour traffic while threatening to physically assault them and making racial slurs against them.

The driver responded by saying, “Oh wow, an arrogant idiot with poor hearing and a flare for dramatics. He decides that he is in a rush and the world must just get out of his way because he is driving a BMW [the Ramiah family’s vehicle].”

The driver explained that at the time of the incident it was rush hour traffic. He said that he pulled away from the robot at an acceptable speed and was waiting to find a gap to join the traffic on Witkoppen from Straight Street.

“Never the less I find myself being hooted at by a guy in his BMW expecting me to magically just yield to his need to push his way through traffic,” he said. The driver said that the Ramiah family then hooted and whizzed passed him. According to the driver he then coincidentally caught up with the BMW and rolled down his window to “share the truth with him [the driver of the BMW]”.

“Was I confrontational? Yes. Was I incensed? Absolutely. I have yet to find anybody who reacts positively to being bullied in traffic,” he said.

The driver said that he gave the Ramiah family an opportunity to get out of the car to explain their bullying tactics, however the patriarch of the family then retaliated by asking if the driver was being racist.

“I take exception to being accused of racism, I am many things, but not a racist,” the driver said.

To the Ramiah family the driver said, “Considering that you are not the victims that you portray yourselves to be, perhaps you might benefit from practicing a little of what you preach regarding restraint and tolerance. Had you done so from the outset, there would be no issue between us at all.”

  1. I hesitate to say that this person that is trying to make excuses for his road rage has been badly brought up,but I was always taught to be tolerant and to turn the other cheek. After all nobody was trying to kill him. So what if somebody hoots at you in the traffic? Both these road rage people have problems. They need a shrink.
