Indi is bound for stardom

CRAIGAVON - Craigavon resident Indiana 'Indi' Mguqulwana is making her dreams of international stardom come true.

Mguqulwana, who is in Grade 11 at the Christian School of the Arts in Randburg, took part in the Just You Model Management International Talent Showcase last year. Her talent was noticed by scout and casting agent, Kim Myers who invited her to attend the ARTS Expo in Orlando, Florida in June this year. At the expo she will take part in performance boot camps, photo shoots, and auditions to kick start her career. Mguqulwana is an all-round entertainer: she does singing, dancing, acting and modelling. She also has an eye for design and designs and makes her own clothes.

“I knew I wanted to be involved in the arts when I was in the Grade 2,” she said. Mguqulwana explained that she did not grow up in a musical family and sometimes found it difficult to explain the art world to her businesswoman mother. “I think I got my love of performance from my grandfather who was a stage actor during the Apartheid era,” she said.

Mguqulwana admitted that talent alone cannot ensure success. “I work very hard at what I do,” she said. The talented youngster said that in five years she sees herself having obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Julliard School in New York. ” I would like to see myself on stage and on screen,” she said. “I would also like to be a recording artist and develop my own fashion line.”

Maguqulwana will be flying to the USA on 22 June and will return to South Africa on 3 July.
