Recovered items need claiming

DOUGLASDALE- Douglasdale police are urging residents to claim goods that they recovered following an attempted burglary on 15 May.

After an attempted burglary and shootout in Olivedale extension 1 police found the suspects’ vehicle abandoned on the N1 on-ramp on Malibongwe Drive (‘Burglars on the run after shootout, Fourways Review, week ending 23 May).

The vehicle which was a gold Jetta was found to contain a bag with pairs of running shoes as well as a printer and computer screen. The suspected robbers are thought to have broken into numerous houses in Fourways and Randburg before the shootout, and the goods that were recovered may have come from a number of different households.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police said the estimated value of the pairs of running shoes was between R7 000 to

R8 000.

Muthan urged community members who have had recent break-ins to visit the station to see if any of the recovered items belong to them.
