Will the Mrs SA crown come to Fourways?
FOURWAYS- With thee finalists in the Mrs South Africa pageant, Fourways could bring the crown home.
In early April Emperor’s Palace hosted the Top 24 finalists in the Mrs South Africa pageant.
Three women from Fourways were given the nod as they contest for the crown.
Cathy Heaton (36), a Cedar Lakes resident, Tamara Booi (29), residing in Dainfern and Hendrika van Staden (37), from Mnandi.
Van Staden said, “The Mrs South Africa crew are so supportive, the fellow contestants are all gracious and helpful and it has been a great experience this far. I will recommend the Mrs South Africa pageant to all married woman.”
This sentiment was echoed by Heaton and Booi, who have both thoroughly enjoyed the journey thus far and would highly recommend entering the competition.
The Mrs South Africa pageant is open to all married women from 25 to 50 years old.
Booi, a mother of two, manages her own events management company and is also a freelance writer and radio presenter, describes herself as a village girl who conquers fears and cuts through stereotypes, using her background as motivation.
She hopes to use the Mrs SA platform to inspire and make a difference in marriages beyond culture, color or race. She would also like to promote a culture of giving within her community. “I believe you don’t have to own a million to be able to give. If you can’t donate a rand, donate a minute of your time,” said Booi.
Heaton, a make-up artist, photographer, author and mother of two adopted her eldest son when he was just three weeks old. She said, “I always hope that we as a family encourage other families to adopt and also change perceptions of those who wouldn’t consider cross-racial adoption.”
Heaton is currently writing her second book. “The book I am working on is about my journey through the devastating loss of my first son who was stillborn, my objective is to bring the hope of a happier future to other mothers who have suffered the same or similar loss.”
