Daschunds need help to survive

DIEPSLOOT - Woodrock Animal Rescue has two daschunds who need urgent medical attention.

The rescue centre, which is situated outside Diepsloot provides a place of refuge for abused and abandoned animals which are then placed in loving and caring homes.

Woodrock Animal Rescue is also involved with the community and strives to educate the public, especially children, on the importance of pet sterilisation and responsible pet ownership.

They currently have two daschunds who both have collapsed backs. Vesper is a five-year-old female who has already had an operation and now needs physiotherapy; and Victor is a two-year-old male who needs a back operation desperately as he is deteriorating daily.

Stella Meldau of the rescue centre explained that the operation and physiotherapy will amount to R30 000 which the rescue centre cannot manage as they are a non-profit organisation.

“Costs are rising and Woodrock simply cannot absorb these costs,” Meldau said. “We desperately need the public to come to our assistance financially.”
