Lonehill residents sick of poor roads

LONEHILL- The Joburg Roads Agency (JRA) in partnership with the Johannesburg Water are in the process of evaluating and fixing the pothole ridden roads of Lonehill.

There has been a bounty of complaints from Lonehill residents regarding the state of Cheney Road and Dennis Road and the agency has taken action to fix the roads and Johannesburg water will help in remedying the situation.

The agency has recently started a project of fixing the roads by covering up the potholes, but estate manager of the Lonehill Resident Association, Doug Black, has stated that the solution they’ve implemented is a “quick fix” and with the constant flooding and use of the road it will soon return to its previous form.

There have been an endless amount of problems regarding the Lonehill roads, including the lack of storm water drains which has led to sewerage making it way up to the surface of the roads and the continuing deterioration.

Black stated that the has been in communication with the Agency and has requested that the agricultural road be completely revamped and that a full resurfacing is in order.

Roads Agency spokesman Bertha Peters –Scheepers stated that they apologize for the inconvenience and said, “According to our area inspector, on Cheney Road corner Dennis Road, Johannesburg Water has excavated and barricaded the road, however there are also potholes on the road. Joburg Water has dispatched a team to attend to the excavation, and once finalised, the JRA will commence fixing the potholes.”
