Make a difference on World Autism Day

BROADACRES- April is autism awareness month with World Autism Day on 2 April and the staff and pupils of Unity College are doing their bit to make it known.

Unity College is a special needs school based in Broadacres which caters for pupils with delayed scholastic ability.

The theme for World Autism Day this year is ‘light it up blue’. In line with this, Unity College has brought in blue balloons to celebrate the awareness month.

The pupils of Unity College are also in the process of creating a long banner that will stretch across the school’s 32-seater bus, with even more blue balloons on 2 April. The bus will be placed outside the school’s property facing Cedar Road.

Michelle Kirk, advancement officer for Unity College, challenged each and every person to get involved in making a difference in the lives of those with special needs – starting with World Autism Day.
