Garden and Flower show coming to Emmarentia

Artistic representation of floral arrangements. Display and garden landscaping. Complimentary outdoor activities and attractions.

This is what the Johannesburg flower and garden show promises horticulture enthusiasts next month. The show will take place at Emmarentia Botanical Gardens from 4-6 April and visitors can look forward to various exhibitions and entertainment that will make the event more enjoyable. The show will showcase a variety of floral arrangements, gardening exhibitions and the best that Joburg has to offer.

The aim of the show also hopes to elevate the status of the botanical gardens and encourage interest in the botanic, gardening and horticulture sectors. It will also provide residents an opportunity to mingle with gardening practitioners, businesses and various levels of government.

The creator and director of the show, Mabalane Mfundisi, explained the inspiration behind launching the annual event and said it originated from his love for gardening which began at a young age.

“I also learned a lot about the Chelsea Flower Show when I attended this show a few years back…my attendance…ignited the passion to develop this Joburg Flower and Garden Show,” Mfundisi added.

The show is being organised with the support of Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo with funding from the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. It is also intended to mirror the highest standard in professional exhibitions of a botanic nature and draws inspiration from the London Chelsea Flower Show.

The show will be free to the public.
