According to warrant officer Danial Mavimbela, spokesperson for the Diepsloot police, a passer-by called the police after a body was found next to Diepsloot mall on the night of the incident.
“The police found the deceased with a sharp object still stuck in her back and a head wound,” Mavimbela said.
He explained that the motive of the killing is yet to be established, but it is believed that both the deceased and the suspect knew each other.
“Though we are confident that there is a prima facie case [fact presumed to be true unless it is disproved] against this suspect, at this stage we are not disclosing how we managed to link him to the killing,” Mavimbela said.
The suspect will be charged with murder and appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
