Localised flooding is expected as heavy rainfall continues throughout the week.

This is according to Weather SA which has predicted that partial clearing and drying of the systems is only expected to begin on 14 March in the west of the country.

As heavy rainfall can be expected, communities need to take care of flash flooding of river systems, flooded low-water bridges and conditions of reduced visibility on the roads.

Spokesperson of Joburg Emergency Services, Nana Radebe, has warned residents who live in low-level areas, especially near the Jukskei River, to find accommodation elsewhere as flooding was expected.

Radebe advised motorists to take caution during flooding and never underestimate fast-moving flood water.

She also urged motorists to be more cautious at night as it may be hard to recognise flood dangers during this time.

The South African Weather Service encouraged the public to regularly follow weather forecasts on television and radio.
