Johannesburg Roads Agency delivers

DOUGLASDALE - The Johannesburg Roads Agency doesn't often get compliments, but one Fourways resident was very happy with their speedy service delivery.

Douglasdale community policing forum Sector 4 chairperson, David Foley said that while he was attending a meeting at the Douglasdale Police Station he noticed some large potholes on Topaas Road which were very difficult to manoeuvre around.

Foley immediately emailed Anesta Brits of the roads agency about the potholes, and within two days all the potholes on the road were filled in.

Bertha Peters-Scheepers, spokesperson for the agency explained that the agency was guided by a service delivery charter in its endeavour to improve service to the community and ensure that roads were accessible, safe and livable for communities.

“The roads agency team is committed to the timeframes on the charter which stipulate that potholes should be repaired within three days after being reported,” she said.

Peters-Scheepers explained that the procedure for logging a complaint was for residents to call the City of Joburg call centre with the service delivery query. The City of Joburg would then re-route the query to the roads agency. Residents can also contact the roads agency directly via email or Twitter.

“Every query receives a reference number which can be used to track the progress of the query. Once the query is known to the roads agency it is sent to the relevant depot and a team is dispatched to repair the issue,” she said.

“The positive feedback from residents is just one example reflecting the agency’s commitment to its vision to become the best city roads authority that enables economic growth and sustainability.”

  1. Nice! And I wait 5 Months with no delivery of road fixture. Logged with them, they know about it, escalation after escalation, sill nothing. #Ferndale

  2. It took nearly 2 months to fix potholes I reported to JRA in Penguin and Crawford. Since the last heavy rains many are reappearing again, so repair methods suspect.
