Diepsloot’s girl death ‘inconclusive’

DIEPSLOOT- A postmortem was conducted on the body of a three-year-old girl that was found under a bridge on the R511 in Diepsloot.

Preliminary results suggest that the girl was not strangled and there was no signs of rape or other physical injuries.

“The possibility of drowning cannot be ruled out at this stage,” said Major General Tebello Mosikili in a statement. “An inquest investigation is underway.”

A request for a toxicology report was also made to establish the cause of death which was inconclusive at this stage.

The body was already semi-decomposed and the victim was dressed in a pink tracksuit top, blue top and jeans with no shoes.

A pink-striped sock was found a few metres away from the body. No missing child or person was reported at Diepsloot police station or surrounding police stations.

To date the child, the parents or family was still unknown and a preliminary investigation has led the investigating team to a family living in Roodepoort.
