Report police corruption

DOUGLASDALE- The Douglasdale police urge members of the community to take note of the South African Police Service code of ethics and report any unsatisfactory behaviour by police officers.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan explained that all members of the police service are governed by this particular code of ethics.

The code of ethics of the police underpins the way in which every member of this organisation should behave, irrespective of whether they are on duty or not. This code has the specific purpose of providing a standard of police behaviour that does not allow any leniency for poor service delivery or corrupt activities by the members of the police. The code of ethics must be applied to all members of the police force in their daily tasks.

The code of ethics calls for police officers to have integrity and objectivity, respect for diversity, obedience to the law, service excellence and public approval. Public approval is especially important to the police as they always strive to serve the best interests of the community and will seek the approval of the community in everything that they do.

The community is urged to report any unsatisfactory behaviour to the station commander of the Douglasdale police, Brigadier Leon Kruger on 079 495 4480 or to the anti-Corruption hotline on 0800 701 701.
