Pet dogs need good homes

FOURWAYS- Pet Empowerment in Townships has a number of adult dogs which are up for adoption.

It is a non-profit organisation which works with township communities to improve the lives of neglected animals by giving them daily meals, shelter, regular inoculations, sterilisations and veterinary care in emergencies.

The organisation also re-homes animals which are unwanted, unloved or lost, and strongly believes in foster care as it enables the animal to become part of a loving and caring family. As part of its foster care programmes the animals are introduced to children and other pets which allows them to adapt quickly to a variety of different situations once they are adopted.

The organisation has had a 100 percent success rate in terms of its rehabilitation of neglected pets. It currently has seven adult dogs that are desperately in need of good homes as they have been in foster care for up to two years.

These dogs include Tracy who has been waiting for a good home for two years. When she was found, she was suffering from a type of cancer and was so scared of humans that she crawled around on her stomach. Since then she has recovered physically and mentally and is now a happy and loving dog.

Jack has also been awaiting adoption for two years. He is very alert and is extremely good with children and other dogs.

Orbit was found last year, tied to a pole, abandoned, emaciated and left to die but now she is a happy and healthy dog who is highly intelligent and affectionate.
