Kitties and puppies up for adoption at FourPaws

FOURWAYS - Fourpaws animal shelter near Diepsloot has some adorable animals up for adoption.

FourPaws was established in 2006 with a mission to improve the lives of neglected or abused animals.

FourPaws is particularly committed to their feral cat project which educates the public about how to live in harmony with ferals.

Merinda Brits, founder of FourPaws explained that when ferals were removed from an environment, a void was created and ferals from other areas soon filled the void. Therefore it is far better to make sure ferals are sterilised than to try to get rid of them.

FourPaws rescues a number of feral cats per week and where possible they are returned to their colonies, but in many cases they are kept at the shelter to be rehabilitated and re-homed. The shelter also houses a number of cats that were abandoned by their previous owners as well as kittens that were born into feral colonies.

At the shelter all animals are vaccinated, de-wormed and sterilised.

For more information about adoptions contact Sacha Fraser or Merinda Brits.
