Screen star on self help

Fourways resident and TV personality, Pierre de Villiers has just published a self-help book called Dear Pierre.

De Villiers started his TV career as a continuity presenter on SABC 2 during the 90s. He also read the finance news for Jacaranda FM and had a recurring guest spot as the resident barman on Egoli.

When the era of continuity presenters came to an end, De Villiers decided to take up a position of lecturer of life skills and presentation studies at the University of Johannesburg. During this time De Villiers decided to do psycho-analysis training with a psychologist.

Soon he started counselling private clients, and after word spread, was invited to speak on Radio 702 as a life skills specialist. From there he was invited to appear on 3Talk with Noeleen.

While doing his work with the media and lecturing, De Villiers was counselling numerous clients.

He wrote Dear Pierre after 10 years of counselling clients, and the includes 30 real letters from some of them.

“The 30 case studies cover topics like sex, romance, money, love and everything in between, ” he said. De Villiers explained that the novel aims to observe, learn, enjoy, and ultimately leave the reader feeling much better about their own life in comparison to his clients’.

“All the names of the clients have been changed, ” he said, “but actually, one of my clients was very disappointed to hear that he hadn’t made it into my book.”
