All hail the Queen of Dainfern

DAINFERN – Fourways Review sat down for a reality check with celebrity, mom and self-proclaimed Queen of Dainfern, Puleng Mash-Spies.

Puleng Mash-Spies rose to fame after being featured as one of the guests on the BBC show Come Dine With Me. With her bubbly personality, no nonsense attitude and catch-phrase “Shut the front door!” she became an overnight celeb sensation.

However, not all the feedback was positive. Mash-Spies explained, “I got a lot of hate on social networks, especially about me calling myself The Queen of Dainfern, but I think that if you live in Dainfern and you feel like you’re a queen then you are a queen of Dainfern. I really don’t pay attention to nasty things people say while they’re behind their phones and computers anyway.”

Mash-Spies lives with her husband, two children and her brother and sister in Dainfern. A typical day includes shopping with her good friend and neighbour, Sandra Philip, and drinking red wine by the poolside. But Mash-Spies travelled a long road to get the life she has now.

“We used to live in the township and my father was a driver. Sometimes I used to go on drives with him to Sandton, and I told him that my dream was to one day live in a house like the big ones we passed. I don’t think he ever expected it to actually happen,” she laughed.

Another one of Mash-Spies’ dreams is about to come true. When she was featured on Come Dine With Me she mentioned that her dream would be to have her own reality show, never expecting that this could actually become a reality.

With Mash-Spies’s instant fame, reality soon came knocking and the Dainfern queen will soon be leading the cast on the ‘Real Housewives of Johannesburg’, a reality show which follows six successful women as they go about their lives.

Mash-Spies said, “I can’t tell you too much about the show right now but I can tell you that you’re going to see all of me. I’m opening up my home and my life to the cameras. You’re going to get to see the real Puleng.”
