Tragic nightclub shoot-out

FOURWAYS- The shooting of a 25-year-old man, and a bouncer and two security guards outside Tiger Tiger nightclub in Fourways in the earlier hours of 27 October has left the public reeling.

According to Douglasdale Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Balan Muthan the shooting occurred after a scuffle between a young man and two brothers in the parking lot of the popular nightclub.

The young man exited the club and became involved in a heated argument with the two brothers who were sitting in a black BMW. During the scuffle the young man was stabbed in the hand by one of the brothers. He ran back into the club and came back with a bouncer and two security guards.

One of the brothers opened fire on the four men during which the bouncer was shot in the stomach and one security guard was shot in the ankle, while another security guard was shot in the arm.

The shooter’s brother was also shot and later died in hospital having sustained a gunshot wound.

The shooter is still at large while the bouncer is in a stable condition in hospital.

The two security guards have since been discharged from hospital.

Management of the club said members of the nightclub’s security did not carry firearms therefore no shots were returned during the shootout. They confirmed that the bouncer who was shot was their head of security, Charles Ramazani.

Management said in a statement, “Our prayers and thoughts are with Charles. We will cooperate fully with the police and do everything we can to ensure that we bring these people to justice.”

Social networking sites have lit up with the public expressing outrage over the unfortunate incident, and their sympathies for the deceased victim and injured members of security.

One Twitter user said, “So sad to hear about the horrible shootout at Tiger Tiger Fourways. Hope their head of security makes a speedy recovery.”

A Facebook user commented, “This is shocking. Wishing a quick recovery to Charles and all the men who were brave enough to help. So very sad and scary, hope they catch and lock up these guys.”
