Beer flows at Hooters Oktoberfest

FOURWAYS - Hooters on the Buzz in Fourways held a four-day Oktoberfest beer extravaganza.

This is the first year that Hooters had decided to hold the event but according to marketing manager of Hooters South Africa, Roger Masson, due to the amazing turnout they are looking at making it an annual event.

Masson said, “For now we are only doing it at Hooters Fourways because this is the biggest branch in South Africa and we have such loyal support from the community.”

Masson explained that while Hooters is known as a restaurant, the Hooters Fourways branch has taken on the ambiance of a local pub where regulars come to meet up and have a great time. He said, “It was for that reason that we decided on the Oktoberfest idea.”

The Hooters Oktoberfest is different from other beer festivals in that all the beers showcased at the festival were local. Masson said, “We had local beers on tap, local DJs on the decks and local comedians too.”

DJs in attendance included 5 FM’s Gareth Cliff and Rob Forbes and 94.7’s Vin Deysel.

Manager of Hooters Fourways, Luka Gibson, said, “We brought in 200 kegs of beer for this festival. People had a great time, enjoying the beer and the music. I’m very excited to make this an annual thing.”
