Woman badly injured in jet ski accident

A 45-year-old woman was transported to the Fourways Life Hospital after she sustained injuries during a water-skiing accident at Hartbeespoort Dam.

According to Vanessa Jackson, crisis communicator at ER24, the woman was allegedly flung off a jet ski while riding it on a luxury estate bordering the dam in Brits on 29 September.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene and assessed the woman for injuries, which appeared to be broken bones in her hips and possible back and neck injuries. While they treated the woman, they called in AER24 which then airlifted her to the Life Fourways hospital where she was handed over to medical staff in a stable condition,” Jackson said.

“The details surrounding the incident are not clear, but according to witnesses, she came off the jet ski and crashed with her body into the metal jetty which caused her severe injuries,” Jackson explained.
