Second suspect arrested in ‘Monte Murder’

DOUGLASDALE - Captain Jacques Swanevelder and Colonel Anesh Maharaj arrested another suspect connected to the 'Monte Murder'. Jean-Pierre Malan (32) was arrested in Randburg on 26 September after a police investigation connected him to the murder of Dustan Blom.

Blom’s decomposing body was found stuffed in a boot at Montecasino’s parkade on 23 September. The corpse had been left there for a week.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, spokesperson for Douglasdale Police Station, said CCTV footage from the entertainment complex proved valuable in securing the arrests.

Malan’s girlfriend, 24-year-old Maruschka Robinson, was arrested on 25 September.

The two allegedly strangled Blom, stuffed his corpse in the boot of his Nissan Qashqai and went on a scamming spree around the casino.

They drew thousands on Blom’s bank cards before leaving the centre. They were both captured by security cameras entering the building.

According to police, both face charges of murder and tax scam.

Malan is set to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, while Robinson will make her second appearance on 2 October.

Police investigations continue.
