Local hairdresser gives back

KYALAMI - Cluny Farm residents got a welcome treat from local hairdresser Lita Simoes, who gave them all haircuts.

Cluny Farm is a working farm for adults with mental disabilities in Sun Valley, Kyalami.

The 60 residents have daily jobs like working in the gardens and in the bakery, where they produce their famous Cluny Farm cookies.

Simoes visits the farm every six weeks to give the residents haircuts, which leaves them feeling very special.

Cluny Farm’s developmental officer Juanita Cronje said, “The residents get so excited to have their hair cut. Usually there’s a long line waiting for Lita before she even gets here.”

Simoes is a local hairdresser who has decided to regularly cut the the hair of Cluny Farm’s residents for free.

Cronje said, “Lita is actually my hairdresser and every time I went for a haircut I couldn’t stop talking about Cluny Farm and the wonderful people who live here. Lita approached me to ask if she could come through to cut the residents’ hair free of charge and I was overjoyed.”

She added, “I should be thanking Lita for her help but every time she comes to visit she always phones me afterwards to thank me for letting her come.”

Cluny Farm needs help of this nature from community members as well as donations from businesses and individuals.
