Caxton Joburg North donates desks

MIDRAND - When Caxton Joburg North started searching for a well-deserving charity to donate surplus desks to they didn't search for long before finding Botshabelo on the border of Midrand and Fourways.

Botshabelo is an extension of the Urban Life Church but serves as a separate non-governmental organisation.

The organisation is known in the communities of Midrand, Fourways and Olievenhoutbosch as a place of refuge as the facility incorporates both a babies’ home and early childhood development programme.

The early childhood development programme provides education to more than 44 children despite their socio-economic status.

Botshabelo Babies’ Home opened in March 2000 in response to the plight of babies being abandoned in hospitals or left to die due to poverty and HIV.

Over 125 children have been cared for in the babies’ home over the years.

Botshabelo has recently opened a second-hand shop in Olievenhoutbosch which will provide a steady source of income for the organisation.

They plan to sell the desks donated by Caxton Joburg North at their second-hand shop to buy food and other much-needed resources.

Audrey Goodsir, who runs Botshabelo’s second-hand shop, was overjoyed at the donation from Caxton.

She said, “Wow, what a lot of desks in such good condition! These will be a great addition to our stock at the second-hand shop.”
