Unit for a better Douglasdale

Business owners in Douglasdale have united and formed the Douglasdale Business Forum.

Founding member of the forum, Susan Mottram of Headline News said the aim of the forum was to improve and maintain the well-being of Douglasdale by reducing grime, crime, bylaw offences and urban decay on Leslie Avenue West and Douglas Drive from end-to-end.

It is envisaged that securing the two main roads in Douglasdale will positively impact on the safety, aesthetics and value of Douglasdale at large, and encourage investment in the area and the creation of job opportunities.

The non-profit organisation hopes to become the mouthpiece of Douglasdale, and aims to receive better local government service delivery, including from the Metro police bylaw enforcement unit, and informing Douglasdale Police Station of
incidents of crime and suspicious activity.

“It is possible to achieve cleaner and safer streets where infrastructure remains intact or is reinstated, and where bylaws are upheld,” Mottram said.

Mottram was elected chairperson of the forum and Doug Phillips of Hogs Head was elected deputy chair.  Mottram said they were looking for businesses in the area to join and those who were interested should get in contact with her.
