Witkoppen crash claims one life
PINESLOPES - A man was killed in a car crash that occurred on 26 August at about 9am.
According to Vannessa Jackson of ER24, the accident took place at the intersection of Witkoppen Road and The Straight.
“Paramedics arrived on scene to find that a single cab bakkie and a Jeep had collided into one another. It appeared that the Jeep, which was travelling from Paulshof side, was turning towards Pineslopes, while the bakkie was travelling from Douglasdale towards Paulshof, when the two collided,” she said.
Jackson said the bakkie’s driver, who appeared to be about 30 years old, was trapped in the wreckage of the bakkie and that he died shortly after paramedics arrived on the scene. “The woman, who had been alone in the Jeep, suffered minor injuries and she was taken by ambulance to Life Fourways Hospital. Investigations are underway into the cause of this fatal crash.”
