Women to heat up the decks at Sunday Funk

PINESLOPES - Sunday Funk which will held at Citadela in Fourways will make Women's Day weekend a celebration of note.

Younique Concepts, together with After Hours Entertainment, will host the second That’s What She Said event on 11 August.

The aim of this event is to give local female DJs an opportunity to showcase their work and their talent in this tough industry.

Karina Chaczbabian, of The Zoo Project in Ibiza, will add some European flair to the celebration.

The show will transform a quiet Sunday night into a supercharge for the week ahead.

Since 2005, Chaczbabian has been one of the most integral artists within The Zoo Project, which is a daytime open-air gathering that takes place in Ibiza. This avid collector and player of vinyl currently spends her winters in Berlin and summers in Ibiza – and still finds time to work on her own productions.

With Berlin fuelling and influencing her creative side, and an appreciation of the fundamentals of raw Chicago and Detroit music, her trademark style fuses elements of the

three smoothly together with the minimalistic, forward-thinking deep house that has become her staple sound.

Her vinyl selection is seductive, laid-back and hypnotic while retaining a driving rhythm.

She has played alongside the likes of D’julz, Chris Tietjen, and Markus Fix, and she recently toured the United States of America.

She is now ready to give South Africans a taste of her Ibiza music flavour.

Local DJs supporting her will be Thalia, Keren Onay, Vanessa Holliday, and Sunday Funk resident DJ, Nick Essential.
