A sad story behind sweet faces

FOURWAYS - Limp and dying of biliary, Charlie Brown the puppy did not look as though he would survive.

But he did and now is in desperate need of a new home.

Pet Empowerment in Townships based in Fourways first encountered the brave puppy at a spayathon in the Orange Farm township last year when Charlie Brown was three months old.

Laura Whittaker of the rescue initiative said, “He could not even stand and urinate. Luckily he had a very strong will to survive and pulled through. He is now an active and charismatic little boy who loves to play. He also speaks to you when he wants something, which is very cute.”

Whittaker said Charlie Brown was a mixed breed and would probably be a medium to large dog. He is house trained and is clever, but can be jealous and suggested that he should be homed as a single pet or with a large female dog.

“He needs a strong-willed owner who will set boundaries for him. He is not dog-aggressive in parks, he just has jealousy issues living with male dogs or smaller dogs. He is a very loyal pooch.”

Whittaker said they were looking to home other dogs which included Na Na, Bam Bam, Bambi, Hazel, London and Hymie. The animals were rescued three weeks ago from a house in Tsepong, next to Orange Farm.

“The house had 18 dogs on the property and they were struggling to care for them all and asked us to take the pups. They were very malnourished and full of parasites. Unfortunately three of them didn’t make it, but the rest are doing well in foster care and need homes.”
