7de Laan scoops three awards
LONEHILL - It has been a golden year for 7de Laan, the popular soap produced at Studio Park in the heart of Lonehill.
At this year’s Tempo Awards, two of the soap’s actors walked away with the Best Actor and Best Actress awards.
Christo Davids, who plays Errol, and Sorina Erasmus, who plays The Flooze, nabbed awards and added their contribution to the South African screen.
Not only did the show win the coveted title of Best South African Soap Opera at the South African Television Awards earlier this year, but it also raked in the Favourite Soap at the Tempo Awards.
“A big thank you to everyone who voted for us. It is a joy to have such loyal viewers. We hope you will continue to welcome us into your homes to share the ups and downs in the Laan for many more years to come,” said Linda Scheepers, 7de Laan’s head writer.
Danie Odendaal, 7de Laan’s producer, believes the production boasts some of the strongest talent in the industry, both in front and behind the cameras.
He said they deliver their best, day after day, putting in long hours of hard work, and it was a wonderful bonus for them to receive recognition from viewers in the form of an award.
Erasmus channelled her inner ‘Flooze’ after the awards: “To every tjomma, this Tempo Award doesn’t only have Flooze’s name on it, but all of your names as well. Thank you for liking me just the way I am. And thanks to 7de Laan who made this Flooze goose part of their wonderful family.”
