Hearts of gold at HeronBridge College

FOURWAYS - HeronBridge College is extremely proud of their equestrian riders.

“The HeronBridge College equestrian teams have been an amazing asset to the school. They took part in the Gauteng West School League with qualifiers from January to June and had fantastic achievements at the four qualifying rounds,” said Candice Gibson, marketing assistant at the school.

She said sheer determination, guts and perseverance from the pupils had resulted in well-deserved results.

The school has 30 riders; the preparatory team consists of 20 riders and the college team has 10 riders.

“With much excitement, the preparatory school was the winner of the annual parade, where every rider, pony and their groom was dressed up smartly for the occasion.

“The Gauteng West Prizegiving Dinner was held in July, and both teams won the overall shields for having the highest points per size category, respectively made up of horse-rider combinations actively participating during the season,” explained Gibson.

She said the school wished to congratulate the pupils who were selected for the Gauteng West Team, as they will participate at Regionals from 9 to 11 August at Misty Meadows.

Erin Bleach, Erin Cooper, Jacques Diedericks, Kelly Mc Vicar, Nicole Dewar, Sarah Davies, Saskia Rosenmann, Shaina Brown and TomTom Triggol will ride in the preparatory category, while Alexandra Davies, Cayleigh Triggol, Daisy Gidlow, Hayley Sturgess, Jade Gibson, Jodi Sonderup, Justine Mackay, Kellie Uphof and Monique Rose will ride under the HeronBridge College banner.

“In January, Cayleigh Triggol from Grade 9 was the only South African rider to represent South Africa in the Children’s FEI finals held in Mexico. Over the mid-term break, our preparatory equestrian captains, TomTom Triggol and Shaina Brown, competed in Port Elizabeth in the Children’s SA Champs.

We are proud of all our riders and wish them well in the upcoming Regional and National events to be held later this year,” Gibson concluded.
