An addition to the Red Sightseeing Bus, visitors get the true taxi experience, and visit some of Joburg’s most important sights.

So We Too was founded – and is operated by a young local team from Soweto.

“Our team yearn to share the real experience of Soweto – the Soweto of today: a vibrant, innovative and forever changing environment that has not been explored to its full potential,” said Kgomotso Pooe, chairman of the taxi tour company.

His team includes Lesedi Moshesh, a taxi guide who lives and breathes for his hometown.

Moshesh joins groups from the start offering unique views on certain areas of Soweto.

Knowledgeable guides are stationed along every stop on the tour, and it begins at Walter Sisulu Square in the heart of Kilptown, with the Hector Pietersen Memorial in Orlando West following next.

From there, taxis continue to Vilakazi Street, the only road in the world to call two Nobel Prize winners residents.

The last stop on the tour is the Baragwanath Taxi Rank and Trader’s Market, the biggest and busiest taxi rank in Soweto.

Finally, the taxi whooshes back to Gold Reef City where the City Sightseeing Bus for the Red City Tour waits.

This new partnership now makes it easy for passengers to not only explore the Jozi CBD but also to extend their visit to include the world famous township.

No visit to the Johannesburg is complete without a trip into its largest and most vibrant township. Many a local has also never ventured into Soweto, home to thousands of South Africans and site of some of the most iconic events in the country’s history.”The Soweto Taxi Tour showcases a unique side of Soweto,” said Pooe.

A guided tour of each stop is optional, but highly recommended as many of the guides grew up in Soweto and can provide in-depth insight into growing up in this vibrant township
