New chairman of Rotary Club of Kyalami

KYALAMI - Newly inducted Rotary president plans to make the circle bigger

Paulshof’s Peter Rokitta is in the forefront of changing lives.

For his second term as Rotary Club of Kyalami president he is already working on plans to enrich the world around him.

One of the first projects Rikotta and his fellow Rotarians have undertaken is their Mandela Day bid.

For 67 minutes, and knowing Rotary a dash more, the team will visit Mother Touch Academy on the edge of Diepsloot.

Peter Rokitta said his object for the year was to increase membership in the service organisation, foster fellowship and include more of the fun.

Young people are Rokitta’s wildcard, and he thinks it invaluable for younger generations to understand and participate in serving their communities.

The turning gears of Rotary are no foreign concept to the new president.

He joined the Krugersdorp Monument Rotary club in 1987.

“I ‘immigrated’ to the Kyalami Club in 1990,” he shared.

Except for being a past president of the club, he also believed in the club as a microcosm of South Africa.

According to Rokitta, it is a rainbow club consisting of a rich mix of race, gender and culture.

“Thereby representing the ideal mix to promote the ideals of Rotary,” he said.

As new president, he will promote the ideals of Rotary under the theme for the year 2013/2014 “Engage Rotary Change Live”.

Ongoing projects at Witkoppen Clinic, the Rotary Blanket drive, family health days and hands always willing to reach out and help means that Rikotta is ready for the challenges of his presidential term.
